Our Last Summer Trip...San Diego

Ty was persistant for a week, that he wanted to go see Grandma with the cat.
I packed up the kids & the 3 of us were off to San Diego.
We went to Seaport Village, had a cookout at Shelter Island, went on the AmaZinG Seal Tour that my brother narrates, had a girls day shopping at Ikea while my dad took the kids to the Zoo.
Here are the kids that joined us for the campfire. There were lots of purple jellyfish they were checking out.
The Seal starts a tour on land & then takes you into the water. We learned some great San Diego history along the way. This was certainly the highlight of the trip.
Being that my brother works in the San Diego tourism, he was able to hook us up with a few more tours. Here we got to checkout the Star of India. That is the kids sitting on the edge, about to go overboard in hopes of a good picture. :-)
Thanks for a good trip Mom & Dad! You always make our visits fun!!

Wanted: a VERY Patient Mother to Take Over My Job.

I hear Sydney saying that she has to go potty. I try, and try to make her go, but she yells, "I JUST WENT!" her favorite line.
Avoiding the fight I walk into the kitchen & dump the kid's lemonade water from the melted slushy I made them. She comes in upset, "I wasn't done, I want more."
I lean down & start the dealing, "If you go potty, I'll make you more." I reach out to hug & calm her, but she slaps me accross the face.
I just walk away. She starts saying that she'll make it herself. She climbs to the counter & then pees everywhere.
Maybe she thought that's how the slushy became yellow?
Is there any hope that I'll make it through her teenage years??

Sydney Starts Preschool

Our main qualification for Sydney's preschool was that the time filled the gap between Jeff's work schedule & mine. Ty's school won.  She is 3 rooms down from his.
The time slot allows Jeff to get to school an hour earlier & me to have an extra 1/2 hour for the days work doesn't go smoothly. It works out the bugs in our schedule & allows Lil' Miss Social to have friends, learning & fun.
They said no backpacks, just tote bags. Didn't it turn out cute? It may be my 1st sewing project I'd let people see up close. :-)

Jeff dropped her off & said she looked like she was about to cry.
Luckily there was play dough, her favorite.

Looks tasty right?
Jeff was able to sneak out.
When I picked her up she was full of stories:
She must have told me 20 times, "I didn't cry!"
Stories of Stephanie, the girl that hit her leg & the convo that followed.
How there are 2 girls are named Katelyn.
That she used the potty.
And about how Ashlyn pooped her pants.
Who knows if it's true, but it sure cracks me up.

She's also learning sign language & spanish. How cool is that?
Both Ty & Sydney are so excited about their classmates and teacher. We are excited for this school year & to watch them learn & grow.
