This is Ty's progression of happiness...
There are no morning shots of him. He was full of fight: Angry about wearing a uniform. Angry about the waffle breakfast dad made. He was fully prepared to start his 1st day shirtless so that he didn't have to wear a collar.
Once at school he was a little happier. Or maybe he was just so mad he was ready to get rid of Mom & Dad.
It was funny to see all the parents with video cameras.
I do wish I had the camera for when I picked him up. He spotted my car 6th in line & was just beaming. His hand was frantically waving and he stood up, too timid to step out of line though.
He told me stories from the day: what he ate from his lunch, his pretend buddy trips to the potty, the way his teacher says, "Eyes on me." and the scholars (not students, but scholars) repeat, "Eyes on you."
While Ty was away Syd & I swiped an idea off a craft blog and made him a giant cookie.
Ty was thrilled to have his very own GIANT cookie.
Then he got rid of that stinkin' collared shirt & got to work on his cookie.
Look at those bones! This kid needs cookies.
Thankfully the rough start quickly turned. As I put him to bed & showed him tomorrows uniform I said, "You know everyone wears this so you don't need to get upset tomorrow."
He responded, "Yes, everyone wears it. And that's kind of wierd."
